Read Quran in Sutrah, with text available offline
Sutrah includes Quran text inside the iPhone app, with Uthmani Arabic, transliteration and attributed translations. You can read the bundled text offline. Recitation audio is a separate streaming feature that requires an internet connection.

Find a surah, juz or specific ayah
Open Quran and browse by Surah or Juz. Continue reading returns you to your saved reading position. Search accepts a surah name, a reference such as 2:255, or a word in the available text.
Word search covers the selected translation, transliteration and Arabic text. If a translated word is missing from the results, check the translation you selected or search for the verse reference instead. Search helps you find text; it does not provide an interpretation or religious ruling.
- Open Quran and choose Surah or Juz to browse.
- For a known verse, enter its surah and ayah reference, such as 2:255.
- Open the result to read in context within its surah.
Choose readable text and a translation
Use Quran reading in More, or Reading options in the reader, to adjust Arabic font size, choose a translation and toggle transliteration. The bundled translation collection includes English, Urdu, Indonesian, Turkish, French and Malay resources with attribution.
Translations help convey meaning and may use different wording. Transliteration is a reading aid and does not replace the Arabic text or instruction in pronunciation. If you are learning to recite, use the app alongside a teacher or a source you trust.
Bookmark an ayah and continue a reading routine
Tap an ayah to open its actions, then choose Bookmark. Saved bookmarks appear in the Quran index; tap one to return to that verse. The same action bar offers copying and sharing with the verse reference.
Sutrah saves your reading position and bookmarks locally. You can return through Continue reading without making an account. Local progress is not an account-based sync service, so do not assume it will transfer automatically to another phone. A Khatm plan is available from the Quran screen if you want to organize a daily reading portion.
Listen to recitation with an internet connection
Start recitation from the reader's play control or an ayah's actions. The player streams ayah-by-ayah audio from the Islamic Network provider and continues through the selected surah. Reading options let you choose among the reciters offered by your installed version.
Bundled Quran text and streamed audio have different connectivity requirements. Text can remain readable when you are offline, while recitation may stop, buffer or fail to load. If audio does not start, check the connection and playback volume, then try again. Sutrah does not promise that the complete recitation is downloaded for offline listening.
Use Quran reading as an app-unlock gate
A Quran gate begins from the unlock flow for a held app. Choose a reading target in Focus, then complete the reader's timer to receive the configured break. The available targets are 2, 5 or 10 minutes; break choices are 15, 30 or 60 minutes.
The timer supports a deliberate reading pause. It does not verify comprehension, correct recitation or completion of salah. Normal reading from the Quran tab and reading in an unlock gate serve different purposes: a timed unlock requires entering through the gate. Strict focus sessions do not allow an early Quran unlock. Any plan-related gate limits are shown inside the app.
Questions, answered
Does the Quran in Sutrah work offline?
The bundled Quran text, transliteration and translation resources are available for reading offline. Recitation audio streams from an external provider and needs an internet connection.
Can I search for a specific ayah in Sutrah?
Yes. Use the Quran search field and enter a surah-and-ayah reference such as 2:255. You can also browse surahs or juz and search words in the available text.
How do I change the Quran translation or Arabic font size?
Open More and choose Quran reading, or open Reading options from the reader. Choose a translation, adjust the Arabic size and toggle transliteration there.
Does listening to recitation automatically unlock my apps?
The Quran unlock flow uses its reading timer. Playing audio in the ordinary Quran reader is not, by itself, an unlock. Enter through the held-app gate and follow the progress shown there.
Does Sutrah sync my bookmarks to a new phone?
Bookmarks and reading progress are stored locally, with no Sutrah account-based sync service. Do not assume that signing in to the App Store will restore your reading history.
